Current Status at the Wildflower Home

It has been a while since so many of you made your generous donations to our Wildflower Campaign so it's time that I provided you with an update.

I’m happy to reportthat the Good Shepherd Sisters have appointed a new leader for their Wildflower Home -- Sr. Anurak, a Sister with whom I’ve worked closely for more than four years now. I know Anurak to be a true leader; one that gets things done.

Here's a picture of Sr. Anurak receiving her certificate of completion after a recent workshop on leadership, management, and supervisionmy colleague, Peter Scontrino, and I conducted for a group of 16 Sisters -- at her request.

In recent meetings with Anurak about the master plan for Wildflower, we readily agreedthat the immediate priority is to improve the living conditions for the women and babies being cared for there -- and to provide the capacity to care for more of these marginalized women.

Anurakhas now engaged an architect to design a new, 25-bed facility for this purpose. With design and construction plans expected to be completed in the next month or two,Wildflower should be able to begin construction shortly after the end of this year’s rainy season – say, October 2015.

Here’s the old, four-room building we’ll be replacing.
(Itreallyneeds replacing!)

So far we’ve now raised a total of $36,030 (including matching money) to support the Wildflower Master Plan. Thanks to each and every one of you that contributed, this enables us to become the seed funder for this new facility with an initial grant of 1,000,000 Thai Baht.

To meet the anticipated total budget of approximately 4,000,000 Baht, Anurak is preparing grant proposals to two foundations in Europe that have supported building projects of hers in years past. She is confident that our commitment of the initial funding will greatly enhance her chances for success with these foundations.

So, thanks again to all of you, this new building is soon to become a reality. Wahoo!

Life is good -at least for some of us it is.
Others need a bit of help - and together -
we can provide exactly that ☺
