Our work began in Bali, Indonesia while on a vacation in 2005. While there we were introduced to a local orphanage caring for 65 impoverished girls. We agreed to sponsor two. The following year we visited our two girls, became more informed about the orphanage, its leadership, and its needs. At that point we were hooked.
Here is a link to our Bali Fund site. There is also an extensive Blog there chronicling our work with those orphanages over the years.
This SE Asia Children's Foundation was initiated in 2010 as we expanded into Thailand where we are now actively supporting projects in Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, and Wiang Pa Pao.
Our Foundation is a self-directed fund within Give2Asia, a San Francisco based U. S. 501(c)(3) non profit organization. Accordingly, all contributions to our fund are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by U. S. tax law.
With a clear focus on the SE Asian area, Cambodia will most likely be our next country to visit and initiate direct involvement. Already, we have six warm invitations to visit and become more familiar with child care facilities in Siem Reap and Phnom Pehn. I'm planning on my first trip there in June 2013.
We hope you will find our focus on bettering the lives of children and women in the developing world compelling and perhaps something that you would like to support. On-line contributions can be made directly to our fund by clicking here.
The need is great. Let's work together to educate more girls and give them an opportunity for a life free from poverty.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, suggestions, or other matters you'd like to discuss. We always welcome fresh perspectives, new ideas, and -- of course -- support.
